Urban Decay Vice Palette

Watch my Urban Decay Vice Palette review on Youtube:)
Retail: $59 at urbandecay.com, Sephora.com, and Ulta.com

This is the outer box with the Urban Decay logo.

The palette box itself is a matte rubbery purple finish which provides great grip in the hand. It has a decent amount of weight but not too heavy, and the packaging is made with good plastic that feels quite sturdy.

The mirror is the size of the entire top lid which serves a great way for you to apply makeup without needing another mirror. Since the lid opens up by itself with a push of the closure button, it stops to an angle and stays that way for a proper view. No more struggling with propping the mirror up or trying to hold it while doing your makeup!

This palette comes with 20 eyeshadows that are brand new though few of them resemble few of the older UD shadows. However, the improved formular makes these apply ever so smoothly. It includes a wide range of colors from matte neutrals to vibrant shimmers to smokey metallics. You can create so many looks with this one palette, and the best thing is it comes with a duo ended synthetic brush that is actually very nice quality.

I have never used UD brushes, and this one will be my first. First impression is that the brush handle is very sleek and the bristles are very soft though they are made with synthetic material. They feel a lot softer than normal brushes. I love that the duo ended brush has a base eyeshadow brush and a blending brush. These two are very essential when it comes to eye makeup application. The fact that this brush lies neatly inside the palette makes it a lot convenient and easier. At least you don't have to worry about  the brush being damaged inside your brush holder, cans, container, or makeup bag.

Desperation: Matte medium taupe brown, Muse: Golden bronze with gold shimmer, Junkie: Metallic teal with gold sparkle, Chaos: Matte bright blue.

Provocateur: Shimmery rose taupe pink, Rapture: Metallic plum purple,   Nevermind: Metallic bronze,                Echo Beach: Shimmery light taupe gold.

Jagged: Golden olive sparkles,              Blitz: Metallic yellow gold,                        Occupy: Metallic gunmetal navy with silver sparkles,                                        Unhinged: Metallic turquoise.

Vice: Metallic purple,                                       Noise: Shimmery hot pink with gold sparkles,
Anonymous: Matte light vanilla,                Freebird: Light pink sparkles.

Penny Lane: Metallic warm orangey golden bronze,
Black Market: Matte medium black,
Armor: Metallic shimmery taupe brown with silver sparkles,
Laced: Matte light pinky beige.

I love how the bright vibrant colors truly show up exactly how they look in the pan. However, some of the shadows consist sparkles can be messy, and cannot be blended. They tend to fall everywhere even though they look really pretty. I think they are still workable if you use the sparkling shadows on top of a sticky base and use padding motion instead of swiping them on to avoid fallouts. Since I am not a big matte shadow user, I think the ones in this palette are quite useful for transitioning, blurring, and ascent colors. My only concern with one particular, and that is Laced, does not show up on my skin at all with multiple swatches. I had to apply heavily with more than ten applications in order to get it show up on my skin. I still think it's a great color because at least I know that I can use to to soften the edges of other shadows as well as using it as a skin toned neutral color for my eyelids. The matte black shadow in this color is smoother than the matte black shadow from the UD Smoked Palette though it is not as intense. I prefer the metallic bronze colors and the metallic bright colors from this palette. I think they can definitely add pop of color to a neutral or smokey look. This is also a great palette as a gift for someone who loves and appreciates Urban Decay, metallic, bright colors, beauty enthusiastic, and etc!
