Too Faced x Kat Von D Better Together sets

            I picked up the Too Faced x Kat Von D Better Together cheek lip set as well as the Ultimate eye collection from Sephora. These are also available on the katvondbeauty website and toofaced website. The cheek lip set retails for $38 while the ultimate eye collection retails for $65. So far, I've seen a lot of so-so reviews on the cheek lip set. Maybe it's because there are four deluxe sample sized products inside along with a makeup pouch. I think you are really paying for the cute packaging on these sets. Quality wise, I think they are not that bad. The Too Faced love flush cheek blush is an exclusive shade, and I personally love their love flush blushes. Think they are coming out with some highlighters later in March. This blush, however, it's a little different. It's a bit stiff, and has a lot of "frost" to the color. The hot pink is vibrant, but the "frost" effect turned this into somewhat a highlighter. The candlelight highlighter duo is an oldie, and the split colors are very similar with the pinky side has a slight pinky tone to it. Otherwise, they look the same once applied on the face. In the demo, I applied this highlighter on all the high points of my face, but it's hardly detectable. It can be good or bad depends on how you like your highlight. I couldn't notice any since the blush had so much highlighting effect and overwhelmed the whole cheek. Kat Von D threw in two exclusive lip colors, and they are both very nice. The Muse studded kiss lipstick is a medium rose nude color with slight shimmer/metallic to it. It pretty much just glided onto the lips, and I was surprised on how the formula is different from the full sized studded lipsticks that I own. It's strange because now I think of it, all of her small deluxe or sample sized studded lipsticks that I have are creamier. Anyways, not sure if she's going to have this color in a full sized permanent line, but it will nice if she does. Its a very wearable color and great for everyone. The everlasting liquid lipstick from the set is called XO, and it's a deep berry red color. It's gorgeous, and I sheered it out with a brush(as you can see in the video). Her liquid lipstick formula is thin and dries down to completely transfer proof matte. I love how I could achieve a stained effect by using less amount with a brush. Still pretty long wearing, and since it's built on top of that Muse lipstick, it made the final stain looked like it's a slight metallic liquid lip stain. Really cool. I love the little heart shaped makeup pouch that's in this set. It has a pink glitter looking side with Jerrod's dog, and the other side is matte black with Kat's cat. Even the zipper pull has one side of Too Faced logo and the other with Kat Von D beauty logo. It's a medium sized makeup pouch so it's nice to store a variety of beauty products.

              Now onto the Ultimate eye collection set, and it's a nice concept. The whole magnetized heart shaped palettes is genius. This set comes with a full sized Too Faced better than sex mascara, which is a really nice and fan favorite mascara. I've used up two deluxe sample sized tubes so I knew how good this is, but for some reason, the full sized one that I got from this set is a little bit on the drier side. Not sure if it's old or whatever, but it didn't perform as well as the sample sized ones I've used in the past. You also get a full sized Kat Von D tattoo liner in trooper which is another fan favorite, and my favorite for the kit. It's a staple for me whenever I need to do a winged liner. I personally don't wear liquid liners anymore, but this is by far the best felt tip liquid liner I've ever used. It's easy to control and very inky black. It makes winged eyeliner effortlessly. I went through several for my makeup kit, and I have given out few deluxe sample sized ones to friends. So just these two full sized products alone make up half of this set's price. I think it's pretty nice especially if you like these two products. The eyeshadow palettes are not bad, either. I've seen many youtubers loving the Kat's side, and not so much of the Too Faced side. I understood where they are coming from, but I think Too Faced side is decent. If you are familiar with Too Faced cosmetics, you should know that their eyeshadows are very neutral, soft, universal, and cute. With that being said, the Too Faced side of the eyeshadow palette is exactly what Too Faced cosmetics is. The color choices are not "wowing" a lot of people is because these are "staple" colors from their line. I think this is a collaboration between two brands to show off their differences as well as support from each other. That's why I think each side stuck to their true self and made this a nice palette. I think some people are having a hard time using some of the shades from Too Faced side mainly because the pigmentations are underwhelming. I think the only color that is very sheer is the Lovely color which is the baby pink shade. It's sheer and not very pigmented, but I don't think the intension was to make this color pigmented in the first place. I used a blending brush to apply this color all over my eyelids as well as the crease, and I did have to build up for a tiny bit of pigmentation to come through. However, since Too Faced shadows are usually soft and cute, I think it's ok for this color to be not so vibrant. It does look more like a pastel pink, but I think if this color is any more pigmented, it won't really work with the rest of the shades from this side. I do think this pink can be a soft wash of color across the brow bones if to pair with the gorgeous red shade from Kat's side. I think I will do a separate video using shades from both sides to create a look. In this demo video, I just did one soft daytime look with the Too Faced side, and the did another look using Kat's side on top of the daytime look. It's more of a day to evening transitional look. I think it works fine. The qualities of the shadows are not bad, and I did experience some fall outs from some darker shades from both side, but they all blended well.

            Overall, I think this is definitely a great collector's set, so if you are a makeup lover/collector, you will appreciate this collaboration. If you are either fan of these two makeup brands, it's a good one to pick up as well. These is another mini set from their collaboration which contains deluxe sample sized trooper eyeliner and better than sex mascara. I don't think you should buy that set mainly because you can usually get gift with purchases of these two items when you buy from either brands. I get them from sephora's gift with purchases, too. I don't think it's necessary to purchase that set giving the fact that they are not full sized products. However, if you do like the two products, and want them in full sizes, I still recommend picking up the Ultimate eye collection. Again, I think this is a very unique and great collaboration of the two brands, and I love how the beauty community is supporting each other.
